Base - A complex molecule containing Carbon and Nitrogen ring structures. Nucleotides contain one of four bases: Adenine, Guanine, Thymine, Cytosine. In RNA Thymine is replaced by another base called Uracil.

Base-Pair (bp) - Two Nitrogenous bases held together by weak hydrogen bonds. The two strands of DNA are held together in the shape of a double-helix by the bonds between base-pairs. Adenine base-pairs with Thymine and Guanine base-pairs with Cytosine.

Base Sequence - This is the order of bases in a DNA molecule.

Base sequence analysis - A method, sometimes automated, for determining the base sequence.

Biotechnology - A set of biological techniques developed through basic research and now applied to research and product development. In particular, the use by industry of recombinant DNA, cell fusion, and new bioprocessing techniques

b-form DNA - The most common form of DNA in which molecular configuration spirals to the right.
